Spotlight On: ROSANNE CASH
ABOUT THIS WEEK’S SHERO IN THE SPOTLIGHT:
Rosanne Cash is a force of nature, and an American treasure. She is a songwriter, storyteller, best-selling author, and activist. Daughter of the legendary Johnny Cash and his first wife Vivan, Rosanne released her debut album in 1978, and 2020 marks the 40th anniversary of her breakthrough major label debut, Right Or Wrong. Since then, she has put out 15 studio albums, earned four Grammy awards, and twelve nominations, including the 2019 nomination for her song “Crossing to Jerusalem,” from her latest album, She Remembers Everything. The list of accolades and awards is long, and continues to grow with every year. This in-depth conversation takes us through her career, her influences, her insecurities, and her triumphs. We learn about how the significant legacy of the Carter-Cash family intersected with Rosanne’s Southern California upbringing in the 70’s and 80’s, as she shares plenty of feminist insights derived from a lifetime devoted to her art, and a vital career that continues to evolve and grow.
Also on the show this week! New music from Sault, Arlo Parks, and newly minted multi-Grammy nominee, Phoebe Bridgers. Speaking of the Grammy’s - good news abounds with a historic shift in gender equity and inclusivity.
