Spotlight On: TARRIONA “TANK” BALL
ABOUT THIS WEEK’S SHERO IN THE SPOTLIGHT:
This week I'm excited to welcome back the singer, poet, or as she calls herself, “flow-et,” songwriter and lead vocalist for Tank & The Bangas, Tarriona “Tank” Ball. The New Orleans native has been busy over the last couple of years. 2020 saw the release of the EP Friend Goals, and last summer Tank went back to her poetry roots and published and toured behind her first book of poetry called Vulnerable AF. And now, Tank & The Bangas are back with their third full length studio album, Red Balloon, which follows up their 2019 album Green Balloon and Best New Artist GRAMMY nomination. Having grown up singing in the church and then segueing into spoken word with poetry slam competitions and open mics, those two elements have always been present on their albums, but Red Balloon showcases Tank’s amazing singing voice more than ever before. Tarriona “Tank” Ball is this week’s SHERO in the Spotlight.
Our playlist includes new music from Oumou Sangaré, Sudan Archives, and Tegan and Sara.
