Spotlight On: NATALIE BERGMAN
ABOUT THIS WEEK’S SHERO IN THE SPOTLIGHT:
Devotional music and hymnals are nothing new, nor are songs of grief and loss. We have long known the power of music as an expression of faith, as well as a healing force. From the time she was a teenager, Natalie Bergman has been all too familiar with all of the above as she channeled her grief at losing her mother into touring and then forming a band with her older brother Elliott, called Wild Belle. When her father died suddenly in a tragic car accident a couple years ago, music was once again Natalie's salvation, but this time, she went even further, tapping into her faith and religion for a debut solo album called Mercy. The timing of the release dovetails with a moment in which many are reflecting on a year marked by so much loss and isolation. As a collection of songs that embody love, grief, and faith, it has resonated deeply and now evolved from something very personal, to something universal. Natalie Bergman is this week’s SHERO in the Spotlight.
Our playlist includes new music from Juliana Hatfield and AURORA. Plus a brand new, beautiful track from Courtney Barnett called “Rae Street” off her upcoming album Things Take Time, Take Time set to be released this Fall.
