Spotlight On: LUCY DACUS

ABOUT THIS WEEK’S SHERO IN THE SPOTLIGHT:

As we wrap up 2021 and year-end best of lists start to emerge, I am thrilled we managed to get some time with the architect of one of the year's very finest albums, a woman widely agreed upon as one of the best songwriters in indie rock in the past few years. Born in Richmond, Virginia in 1995, Lucy Dacus arrived with her stunning debut No Burden in 2016, then the breakthrough album Historian in 2018, the same year the self-titled debut of the band boygenius that she is in with Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers came out. And this year, our ears were blessed with her latest high water mark and most personal work to date, Home Video, cementing the excellence of her storytelling and wordsmithing that have always been her calling card, along with her beautifully soothing voice, even when exploring and processing the darker corners of life.

Our playlist includes a new one from NoSo called “Suburbia.”

SHERO BIRTHDAYS:
We celebrate the birthdays of SHEROES Sinead O’Connor on 12/8, and Joan Armatrading on 12/9!

This week’s Radio SHERO:
Bruce Trujillo from Indie 102.3 in Denver joins us as this week’s Radio SHERO to spin the track “Made of Gold” from Ibeyi.
