Spotlight On: INGRID MICHAELSON
ABOUT THIS WEEK’S SHERO IN THE SPOTLIGHT:
As we get closer and closer to Christmas, Feministmas continues this week with a SHERO conversation with singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson. Born in New York City to artistic parents, Ingrid’s own creative path began in musical theatre. Though she took piano lessons starting at age four, writing her own songs didn’t come until much later, after graduating college, when she joined a touring theater troupe. Over the course of fifteen years and eight albums on her own Cabin 24 Records, Ingrid has proven her hit-making skills with gold and platinum hits like "The Way I Am," "Girls Chase Boys," and "You and I,” and her career expanded to writing for other artists, and for stage and screen. In 2020 Ingrid received her first Emmy® Award nomination for her original song "Build It Up,” written for the hit series, Little Fires Everywhere, and soon her musical theatre background, love for Broadway, and her gift for songwriting will come together with the musical adaptation of the best-selling novel, The Notebook. And this holiday season, Ingrid Michaelson has another gift for us: a deluxe edition of her 2018 album Songs for the Season, which includes five new tracks. Ingrid Michaelson is our Feministmas SHERO in the Spotlight.
Our playlist includes newly reimagined Christmas classics like Julien Baker’s version of “A Dreamer’s Holiday” and Lucy Dacus covering “Last Christmas.”
