Spotlight On: Angel Olsen

ABOUT THIS WEEK’S SHERO IN THE SPOTLIGHT:

The start of June gives us a couple of things to celebrate this year; Pride Month, and a new Angel Olsen album, her sixth, called Big Time. And as this album is the first full studio album of new material she has released since coming out last year, it is an especially beautiful way to kick it off, even if the album also documents the heartbreak of that relationship ending in the wake of grieving the loss of both of her parents, with the backdrop of the pandemic, and the social and political unrest of the last few years. All of this added to the creative fuel that became the songs on this new album. The result is a gorgeously arranged and deeply inspired collection of indie country songs, done in Angel Olsen's now trademark style of singing and artful songcraft. I'm thrilled to welcome Angel Olsen as this week’s SHERO in the Spotlight. Happy release week to Angel, and Happy Pride!

Our playlist includes new music from Wynonna and Waxahatchee.
