Spotlight On: FANA HUES
ABOUT THIS WEEK’S SHERO IN THE SPOTLIGHT:
This week, the SHEROES Spotlight shines on Fana Hues, an up and coming talent out of Southern California. For Fana, music has been a part of life since childhood. One of nine kids, Fana was part of her family band, studied violin for eight years, and after inheriting a bass from her father, taught herself to play. By the time she was a teen, Fana was writing her own songs, and when she began doing prison outreach with the nonprofit Aim4theHeart, doing writing workshops and emotional literacy programs for inmates, Fana learned to how to use music as a creative outlet for her emotions and as an act of service. This skill is on full display on her sophomore album, flora + fana, which centers self-care and emotional growth throughout. Fana Hues is this week’s SHERO In The Spotlight.
Our playlist includes new music from Lava La Rue and Momma.

This week’s Radio SHERO: Jessi Whitten of 102.3 in Denver joins us this week, and her pick is a track from the Colombian musician La Muchacha, known for her raw and direct protest songs. Jessi’s pick is “La Sentada” which translates to “The Sitting” and tells the story of someone “sitting back and watching society crumble.”
